Join me for a reflective visit to the charming Pheromones Cafe in Ban Chompuu, Saraphi district of Chiang Mai, where I enjoy an expertly crafted Dark Roast Espresso by the cafe’s professionally trained baristas. This cozy, hidden gem not only serves incredible coffee but also offers a peaceful atmosphere perfect for sharing stories and exploring meaningful memories.

In this video, I recount a deeply personal moment from 11 years ago, when I helped initiate the release of captive monkeys being held in poor conditions just near this very cafe. It’s a story of compassion, perseverance, and a deep connection to this local community.

This is actually my second attempt at filming this episode — my previous visit was marred by poor audio. But today, fate had another twist in store: a power cut. Rather than pack up, I took the opportunity to cross the road and explore the breathtaking Sri Don Moon Temple.

What a surprise that turned out to be! The temple complex is vast and rich with spiritual and artistic beauty — vibrant tiled walls, mirror mosaics, intricately designed metal panels, and towering above it all, a majestic Sitting Buddha statue radiating peace and presence.

At the heart of this video, though, is a spotlight on an exciting and sustainable super-food — Wolffia Powder. Known as one of the world’s smallest aquatic plants, it’s celebrated for its nutritional potential and is affectionately called “The little plant with endless possibilities”. Here at Pheromones Cafe, it’s served as a cool, revitalizing drink under the name “Wolffina” — a refreshing way to experience innovation in a cup.
