The Chiang Mai Chronicle book is an incredibly valuable book for anyone interested in the history of Lanna, how Chiang Mai was founded and the people behind the legends. In this video I continue my presentation of the ancient city of Wiang Kum Kam. Today I talk about Wat Chang Kam, formerly known as Wat Kan Thom and also Wat Kat Thuam. I also visit Wat Ket Karaam Museum and Wat Chang Man, to introduce the early history of King Menrai, Chiang Mai and Wiang Kum Kam. I make reference to palm leaf manuscripts that have been compiled into The Chiang Mai Chronicle and also refer to Garry Harbottle-Johnson’s book. This is Part 1 of 2 videos talking about Wat Chang Kam in the playlist series about the Ancient Temple Ruins of Wiang Kum Kam.
